I expected more of a call to arms from the reviews around this book but what I found instead was a well researched, fascinating and disturbing account of the effect of current housing policies in London on its residents. I lived in London as a student and that city is as tough as it is wonderful. Not only expensive but also the current lack of housing security and affordability for both lower and middle income residents is creating an increasingly hostile environment for many.
Gentrification, Regeneration, & Renewal are rapidly becoming dirty words and forced displacement is growing. Minton’s work examines the housing crisis and the true effect of the financialization of housing on Londons residents.
Would highly recommend!
